In this 2-day advanced course you will learn about calibrations options in MikeSHE and modelling water quality in SZ, UZ and OL flow with the MikeSHE Advection/Dispersion module, including sorption and desorption
The course is aimed at groundwater modellers and scientists who want the possibility to increase their modelling skills and enhance groundwater models with other processes in the hydrologic cycle e.g. contaminant transport.
The course programme includes supplementary training prior to the main course. The aim of the short course in Mike SHE is to brush-up the skills of less experienced MikeSHE users and to introduce MikeSHE to experienced groundwater modellers without MikeSHE experience. This short course will use the set of preliminary exercises used in MIKE SHE - Integrated Groundwater and Surface Water Modelling – course of last year. During the week prior to the course Gijs van den Dool will be available to assist in the completion of the self-study. He can be contacted for additional information at gijs.vandendool@gtk.fi. It is highly recommendable for everybody (with an interest in this course) to have the exercises finished before the course starts. All the necessary documentation and software are available on the later announced address.
Program outline

- Introduction and AUTOCAL background and theory
- Afternoon:
- Hands-on AUTOCAL model setup and discussion related to hydrological models
Day 2 Morning to early afternoon:
- Water Quality background and theory
- Hands-on model setup
- Late afternoon:
- Wrap up and discussion on water quality models
